History
In 1978 my wife, Martine and I established La Duchesse Anne in Mount Tremper, New York. The building that housed it was originally a boarding house dating from the mid 1800's. After almost twenty years of providing reasonably priced lodging and fine French cuisine for our customers, the building burned to the ground.

While this was not a happy event for anyone, we were lucky. We were able to purchase a similar building built in 1850 that was being run as a bed and breakfast and was not more than a couple of hundred yards from our original location. It, too, had been built as an inn and gave us the opportunity to recreate the ambiance of the first La Duchesse Anne.

More important, we now were able to do from the beginning what we had spent almost twenty years trying to do in the old place and Do It Right.
